A Study of Other-Centered Faith
a sure and certain faith...."
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of Things not seen.
King James
Hebrews 11:1 To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the
things we cannot see. Good News.
Resource House and its mission statement "To help others" is a clear statement about a clear way to practice the faith.
1. make a single page statement aimed at motivating others to join Resource House in the practice of "caring for others first". We need to remember that first of all our helping others is practicing the faith....
2. An argument for putting others first - God -others-self
3.a applied report of how this works - using Resource House, its make up, its history, a study of use of dollars, (The Way it Works)

General Statement Have Faith - Practice The Gospel
Message (Text) Having faith means To be sure of the things we hope for to be certain of the things we cannot see Heb. 11:1.

9/21/00 in conversation with Laura B today - It came to me that the statement by Resource House as a Faith Based Organization is an expression of Faith alright, it says have Faith in God's humankind - and is best seen in the responses of persons who help other persons in times of need.

An urgent matter: In FBOs - there are no enemies! This to me means that no one is "bad" "wrong" or "good" or any other human designation of character if that person is hurting. The extension of that indicates to me that the general practice of making hate, fear, sex and other "attractive" characherization the center of our attention is not a good thing. I do not know how to get out of this!!!! I have become accustomed in my own life to overlooking shortcomings (except my own), not seeing poor behaviour - and generally emphasizing the
good (has not worked terribly well -) but I do not see any hope for progress unless we

make "being good two shoes" a general way of life.

This study is like what Sister Mary John (a fictional character) said:

"I believe in a divine purpose. I believe that I am an instrument of it. I did not become a
bride of Christ for the perks." P35, Family Honor, Robert Parker.
We are not Christians for the benefits! We are Christians because of the divine purpose - to practice the Good News(which is God loves the world).
Followers of The Christ - Disciples - The Sent - (Go into all the world and practice the Gospel) //// The Hope of The World...... having faith means we are sure of what we hope

The Samaritan model

No ray of sunlight is ever lost,
but the green which it awakens into
existence needs time to sprout, and
it is not always granted to the sower
to see the harvest. All work that is
worth anything is done in faith.
